Stay on Target...Stay on Target

300 points if you get the reference. I have gone back to work first so even though I technically still had a week off because I wasn't scheduled I have worked normal hours this week, Then I had another amazing revelation in my super control freak personality. I realized why I suck at keeping up with blogging. I get obsessed with whatever I am doing at the time.First I have been obsessed with doing a years worth swaps for a group I joined and a half a years worth for a second group. Group 1 has group swaps so I had to make 10 of each card for them theme. I also joined a secret sister swap in that one. Group 2 is only one of each theme but there are several a month to sign up for. That's a lot of cards I will be sharing in the coming weeks.

Second Obsession, my mother's New York album. I needed to get it completed and I still have yet to mail it. I will also be sharing that (debating sharing it before or after I mail it. I mean it's only fair mom sees it first right?).

Third Obsession was to finish the quilt for Cynthia. I had the top finished but I had to get backing, then quilt it , then bind it to get the finished product to look like this...

So in the next couple weeks I will be sharing all those cards and mom's album (maybe) and maybe I will have some sort of other stuff to share later, now that the to do list (obsessions) have subsided.

Hordor!

My blog title is in honor of my husband. See this has become a big thing in our house of  late.

Go back a couple weeks to this sudden urge of mine to re read the Harry Potter books. My husband remembered the girls got him the first 2 books to this series for Father's day. In the last 2 weeks all we have done is read. It has been amazing. I miss this about my husband. So he has been on and on about how I needed to finish Harry Potter and read Game of thrones. I have and I am. But now season 2 is out on amazon. Now we have to divide our time. 2 episodes of the TV show and then reading before bed.  The show is a bit risqué so use your own judgement . I highly recommend the books though. WOW!

Another Rockin Mail day

Do you remember my Tumbler Buddy from Simply Betty Stamps fan group on Facebook, Laura Boyd? Well she was clearing out some of her old fan gurl shirts and decided to make my daughters beneficiaries!
This lady rocks! My girls loved them all! I even got me some Peanut butter M&M's!

Of course she didn't leave me out and She spotted these online and bought them for me! WALKING DEAD MINATES! I Squealed in delight seeing they were from comic con and so I know hard to find.

They have a permanent home  on my walking dead shelf! Yes I have a shelf solely for my Walking Dead books..don't judge! Thank You Laura! This truly Made my day!

It's my favorite time of year- decorating for Halloween

For me the holiday season starts with the anticipation of Halloween. Horror movies and scary decor were always a staple growing up with my mom. I tend to not go evil spooky but more subtle I guess. This is the best part of our apartment. I have a mantle! Isn't that runner awesome! I won it from Andrea over at My Chihuahua Bites about 2 years ago. (wow has it really been that long? )

I have always wanted a scary mini tree. Some thing I could decorate but nothing ever suited me till this year. I saw this awesome glitter tree in Michael's.

I didn't like the ornaments they sold with it so I found some smaller ones at Kohl's. The darling witch candles also came from Andrea. She's so awesome.

The group of candles is my daughter Kyla's idea. She picked out everything, the tray, the stones (which have ghosts and bats mixed in ) and well she wanted black candles with webs but I overrode her and went with the purple. Of course I backed it up with my special purple LED lights I had hanging in my old scrap room.

I usually have the pumpkins set up in September as fall decor and just leave them up through November. I just added the witch and the eek for a fun Halloween look. If you look in the background of the top right you will also see my ghost tealight holder above my window. Glitter pumpkins courtesy of Andrea.

On the opposite end of the counter I have random stuff.  The jackolanterns were a gift from a friend many years ago and the bat and ghost are from a toy store in Germany. Ahhhh Kinderland how I miss thee. The flask was Kyla's doing as well. I am starting to see a trend with this kid. LOL

That's about all my little apartment could handle.  Of course it's probably a good thing for hubby's wallet as well.

Showing my freaky side

So just in time for Halloween . I decided to do something a little crazy and I dyed my hair purple.

Ok it's not all over purple because well I think I have this age hang up that people would look at me and say at her age really? So I went with peek a boos and I have to say I am loving it.

Anyway on to the reason for the title of this post. Andrea over at My Chihuahua bites
posted in Sept about how her freak flag flies. Well I had commented that  have a slight obsession fascination with zombies.

Yesterday she posted 'in part 2 of super freak 'that she has a plan in case of a zombie attack.  Of course I had to comment on that and here's what I left...

Dying here because just the other day I asked Chris Am I weird that when we buy a house I will probably have a zombie apocalypse plan in place and even if my ideal dream house is in a bowl i won't buy because we'd be zombie fodder? I am telling you just by planning for that we will be secure for just about anything....well unless its like the whole 2012 thing.

Let me elborate. In every place we have lived we, and yes it is we because my hubby and kids are included, have devised a zombie apocalypse plan. For example, right now we live in an apt on the 3rd floor. We know how we'd block off the stairwell, we know how we'd get out to forage for food, and we feel pretty confident that we'd be ok here. Across the main street that runs in front of our complex there is a housing complex that does sit in a bowl. There is no way you could keep zombies from smelling your flesh and over running that chain link fence and eating your brain. Even if it is a gated community.

Yes I agree maybe it makes me a little odd to think this way, but we never know when something the government is working on will go wrong. Even the CDC has instructions on how to prepare.... makes me wonder what do they know that they aren't telling us?

Lake Mowich

This Friday we headed out to the Northwest side of the Mount Rainier National Park  to Lake Mowich with Chris' troop. The lake is glacier water from Mt. Rainier and it is Crystal clear. I mean CRYSTAL! Can you see the logs in the water???

I loved how I was able to capture tadpoles swimming in the clear water.

The flowers I captured on the trail. Something about their placement spoke to my heart.

Here is Chris' LtC putting Kyla in his Kayak. She thought that was so cool! He told her what to do in case it tipped and everything.

After we ate we decided to take a hike. Boy was that interesting. Let's just say that I was over and under and crawling over some terrain. I should be the talk of the troop on Tuesday. LOL But here is Michelle taking a rest.

This is what was waiting for us at the end of our hike. A very long waterfall....so beautiful.

And the hike would not have been complete without a family shot at the base of the waterfall.

Yep I can certainly say I am really starting to enjoy Washington. Just make sure you have some OFF when you come to visit and hike because those bugs are merciless.

This was the tops

So remember me saying Cynthia got me cake decorating classes for my birthday? Well August is always so crazy here that I forgot to take pictures. I did remember to take them of my final project though. Here is my cake creation.

A close up of the roses

Those need to be practiced on a little more but I love how they look. The best part is the cake was really yummy to. This was my belated birthday cake as the class was cancelled that day. It was worth the wait!

A little geek love

Recently we headed up to Austin to do a bit of Christmas shopping and looking around I am noticing Star Wars things pop up EVERYWHERE! So being the Geek I am I took a few photos of my favorites.

I love these mini lunch boxes. These would be perfect to hold small embellishments in my scrap room as well. Not sure how well these would mesh with my purple but my ♥ would skip a ♪♫ every time I look at them.
even more pretty boxes to hold stuff in. That lunch box is mini mini but still in love with it I am.

Oh then there was this bit of frazzled excitement when I paid my cell bill. They have released a R2-D2 droid phone exclusive to Verizon! I was so excited to see this I sent a text to my husband at work to share the news. (I never text him at work. I never know what he's up to.) Now this is the ONLY thing I have at the top of my list for Christmas.

I have saved the cutest for last. Build a Bear recently released this cute little numbered limited edition guy....

Ohh yes he is mine! He sits a top my computer desk looking down on me. Better yet he is also decked out with a Star Wars theme song sound! I let my kids do the birth certificate and look what they added at the prompting of my husband...

I am now Jedi Master with a Build a Bear padawan !(Forgive me if that's spelled wrong I have never read any of the Star Wars books. I want to but.... going into the book store and seeing this and not knowing where to start is kinda daunting.)

Yup this family so gets me.

How to manage your time..

has anyone figured this little ditty out? Because since throwing new friends and the gym into the mixture of my life I have let my blog slip through the cracks. I mean I don't get home from the gym until around 11 -11:30, lunch, then by the time I straighten up or Lord forbid clean clean my house, it's time for kiddos to be home from school and the dinner and it seems like a whirlwind around here lately. And believe me when I do have time I am trying to work on Christmas cards and craft. I said it once and will say it again. I wonder how single moms do it!

Just for Jeannie Birthday Recap & a surprise

You like how I snuck that in huh ,Jeannie? LOL Seriously she cracks me up people. She is always so excited to see what goodies my family gives me for any occasion and it makes me excited all over again. So here's the loot....I love Gwen Stephani's L.A.M.B. clothing line but alas, not available in my size! Maybe that should be a weight loss goal? When I lose so many pounds treat my self to a shirt and skinny jeans? HMMMM need to consider that. Back on task though. I love her Harajuku lovers purses. I finally got my coveted purse from my hubby for my birthday! That rocked!

My oldest daughter gets my ER obsession and happily added it to my collection. Only the last and final season to go.

My youngest daughter got me the most awesome wallet EVER! Seriously it is a mini purse. It holds everything I need and then some! I only have to carry a purse if I want to!

My parents paid for my trip to Vegas..no complaints there. My son FORGOT so I told him he's disowned LOL just kidding. I had to give him a hard time though.

Then when I got back on the computer I had this waiting for me...

and not just from one person but 2. Wendy from Wendy's crafting Times and Karen from over at Krafty Karen's Blogspot. This is a wonderful birthday surprise I was not expecting! I hope to do it honor!

Now as part of the award I must tell you why I started blogging and pass it on. I am supposed to pass it to 10 people but I don't think I have that many to pass it to so I will do what I can.

I started blogging back in April of 2007 to keep family updated during my husbands deployment. I was random and had no direction. I then decided to turn it into a craft blog but it's still evolving.
I don't have many followers or comments and I think the main reason I keep doing it is that the few I do have are insistent I keep it up! My fierce followers I call them. Here are just a few Wendy is definitely one of them but I don't think I can pass it back. It is truly given in spirit though.

Jeannie- Not only has she surpassed me in paper crafting she is a hoot and a great friend. Check her out here.

Bridgett- She is truly a big huge supporter and a great friend. She inspires me in so many ways! Life is crazy for her right now but you can check her out here.

LOl see I only can pass this on to 2 people. I seriously need to go out there and make new bloggy friends. I need to overcome my shyness.

P.S. Jeannie I can hear you laughing at that statement all the way across the ocean!

Splashy fun

For Kyla's birthday celebration we headed down to San Antonio to go to Sea World. I have an aunt who lives down there and she had 2 of her grandkids with her. It was good to relax and have fun. Thursday when we went ,we met up with my aunt and uncle at the Guadalupe river and played in the water all day, had a picnic and Kyla had her birthday cake. Friday was the big day. Here are the highlights from Sea World.
Such cuties!

My Favorite animal on the planet! I just wanted to jump in and pllay.

Every time I see the sting rays my heart swells up. I love nature and all it has to offer but I think of Steve Irwin , the crocodile hunter, when I look at these beautiful creatures. He brought so much fun into learning and conservation. I miss his adventures.

Chris loves the shark tanks.

This is why I love my family. They were so fascinated to see the aquariums and different fish. They never rush and just love to do this kind of learning.

Auntie Diane and kids ready for a day at the park.

I was sad to learn trainers no longer get in the water with Shamu. The show was still fantastic, and we were in the splash zone so we got soaked!

Belugas are so cute!

Love my dolphins!

No this picture is not crooked these guys were diving off swings into the pool. It was wild!
