Scripture Challenge 11 - Protection

2 Samuel 22:3 (New Living Translation)
3 my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence.
That verse , ironically, hit me like a mach truck doing 80 in a 35. I wept when I read it and let me tell you why. One day while cleaning my house in 2007, about 2 weeks before Thanksgiving , I got this overwhelming urge to pray and pray hard. I literally got face down to the floor because even being on my knees was to high. As I cried,I felt compelled to pray for whom ever it was that needed God's grace , mercy and protection.
Three days later I get a call from my husband and he tells me he wants to tell me something before the rumor wagon got to me. He said I would have called sooner but we had to be checked out and debriefed. DON'T FREAK OUT (Never a good thing to say to your significant other if you don't want them to freak out)! Yes it was my humvee that ran over the IED (roadside bomb). As I sat there quiet he asked if I was ok and I told him about my experiance. He said Hun I may sound crazy but I felt His protection gaurding me and my men. I wasn't afraid. We escaped with an injured leg, another guys cornia got scratched from all the flying debris, and some hearing loss.
I saw the pictures of the destroyed humvee on his soldiers myspace page. It is amazing that all that happened was minor injuries and no one in that humvee died. See as I said last week God does listen to us and he will perform miracles in our lives if we listen to him as well. I will never doubt God's power of protection ever in my life. Because of his Grace I got my husband home, a little worse for wear but all in one piece.

Please be sure to stop by lovely Bridgett's blog for her take on the word as well.

That just gives me chills! Our God is a powerful, awesome God and the best part is that He cares about us enough to protect us and provide for us. It wasn't enough that He sent His Son to die for us but He also sends His angels to keep us in all our ways! What a wonderful testimony!

Hi Christina, thanks for your kind comment about my card. This post has really sobered me about the real dangers that our men like your DH face every day, and people like me just don't even think about! I promise I will pray for all our service men & women on a daily basis. I know if my DH was younger, he'd be there! Thanks for sharing your faith.
