A holiday unknown

Like most Americans today, I will be celebrating the day noshing on some nummy Mexican food.
Do you really know what the day is about? I know most people think its a Mexican independence  day, but that isn't until September 16th. The holiday is actually the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). It is also just a minor celebration in Mexico , but here in America we have turned it into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage. A lot of cities will even host a parade, mariachi bands, and festivals.
I find it odd that we celebrate it here in America, but hey we have also changed St. Patrick's day into a party holiday, so why not let the Mexican culture have some fun. What's your favorite Mexican recipe? Share it in the comments and Have a Great Holiday!

Let The Season begin!

I always felt that Halloween started the holiday season because Thanksgiving fast approaches followed by Christmas and New Years. Retail just kind of affirmed that in my head. No matter what your plans be safe and Have a Great night! Me I think I will just pass out candy and watch Halloween in the tube! Michael Myers is my boogie man!
Anyway Let me share with you my fun me in digi stamp wearing a daryl dixon riot tee!
Yup, I will riot if they kill off my favorite zombie slayer. He kicks butt! Are my walking dead peeps enjoying season 5? What are your thoughts so far?

Cascarones

People are fond of telling me right now if you just do what makes you happy you won't be depressed. Have you tried exercise? Have you tried eating better? How about scrapping you love scrapping right? Well I would like to show everyone what happens when I try to scrap when I am depressed...

Is it horrible? Maybe not to all but I know it isn't my best work. Although the photos made me smile. We were visiting my aunt and uncle in San Antonio at Easter time. Since my kids are too old to hunt eggs we smashed cascarones on each others heads. Basically egg shells with glitter and confetti in them. After a few of those you are washing confetti out of your hair for days. Moments like this is what keeps me going even if I am down.

White Christmas

I have been loving the look of monochromatic cards for awhile now. I decided, since I was going with simple cards to get the flow going ,why not make an all white card with snow. I could not sit back and not add flair though so I made bright stand out simply by using glitter letters.  I could not be happier with how this turned out. Although it does not make me wish for Christmas to come again anytime soon.

I'll have a Green Christmas thank you

This one is for my bestest Cynthia...Funny she does read my blog and will probably see this one but her memory is like a strainer and she'll probably forget what it looks like before Christmas so I'm good.

Her Favorite color is green so I paired a lot of green scraps with black  and topped it with the bow and tag to make it look festive.  I don't think she'll mind seeing it before hand...lol

All that glitters...

IS AWESOME!!

So this an oldie stamp , but a goodie that I always wanted and just never got around to purchasing before The Angel Company went out of business.  Well, my darling friend Bridgett sent it to me as she no longer wanted it and I could not wait to play!  This is what the Washington weather feels like to me a bit dreary and dark but beautiful.

 Look at that sparkle.

Ohh this one just makes me giddy to look at. No major coloring with my Copics yet, but I am working up to it.

Valentine's Schmalentine

And on a technicality it isn't "late" it is still winter... No really in the season where Valentine's abound in bloggy land, I made a promise to myself that I would not fall short this Christmas season. Last season I thought I would have time to work on Christmas cards. DID NOT HAPPEN. Therefor 5 days a month you will be stuck looking at Christmas cards. Okay, 10 this month because I fell short but really not too bad.

Here it is Christmas card numero uno!

I am coming to realize I really like working on simplicity. Don't get me wrong I love pages and cards with lots of bling and flair but when mojo leaves the building and I have a lot to do simple always works best for me.  I made the wreath from punches and mini bling and the stamp was free a year ago? maybe 2 from paper crafts. I believe it is unity.

1 down 9 to go.

Holiday recap ..

I know some of you like to see what I get over the holidays and while I don't think it's that exciting I guess it's as good a place to start as any. Just to recap I have slight zombie and Star Wars fetish that my family remembered this year...why this year is unknown but why complain?

My youngest daughter got me these lovely tees... I had to kind of laugh too but they are kind of  spectacular.

This one ,my oldest daughter shocked me on. There was a big 12x12 box under the tree. I was thinking cool scrapbook kit. Was not expecting this...

still kind of cool right? Plus it goes well with my craft room décor and she was planning on that. Score one for the kid.

Next (and this one really got me) My husband chose this as my present..

and let me tell you I have gotten more compliments on that purse, from females and males alike, then I have any other purse I have ever carried.

Santa brought me this little beauty...

I think it had to do with the fact that my husband tried to use my printer and old desktop and he had to fight with it to get it to work. As I recall his exact words were " No wonder it takes you three hours to do a scrapbook page 2 of it is fighting with the computer and printer!"  Whatever Honey I always made it work without complaint LOL. This lovely readers is why there has been nothing on my blog. I had to transfer everything to a new computer because while I had it on a backup drive I accidently deleted it. Then I had to convince my other half to reconnect the old tower to get the pictures again then reconnect the new one. Yup that's going to cost me.

Then of course I got some money which I spent some on a walking dead shirt and new comic HEE HEE. I was good and I saved most of it for something else which I shall reveal in another post.  Yes ,there is actually going to be other posts. So till next time..

His older sister tho wanted mommy...

Then back to Cynthia's house for  bbq dinner and some playing and of course some pics..me and Lukie...
